Disinfection
Seeds can carry pathogens. To prevent these ‘pathogens’ from developing in a disease, disinfection of the seeds is needed. With disinfection the spread of pathogens is minimalized and therewith preventing high losses during harvesting. There are different methods of disinfection.
Examples are:
- hot water treatment
- disinfectants
- overheated steam
Please contact us on how to proceed to get rid of any pathogens that may bring risk to your crop.
Upgrading
Upgrading is done to separate contaminant or empty seeds from the good and healthy seeds. Through upgrading the quality and value of your seed lot is increased. Agathos and Atlas offer multiple techniques and procedures to take out the contaminated, weak and/or dead seeds.
These techniques are:
- wind grading
- calibration
- liquid density grading
Priming
Priming allows faster and more uniform germination and growth of seedlings. This technique helps nurseries and growers to be more productive and harvest a specific planting all at once. We are able to remove Thermo- and Photodormancy; we can enhance speed and uniformity of germination.
Agathos and Atlas do have the knowledge and facilities to upgrade both big and small seed lots. By sending us a sample, we can carry out tests and advise you on how to improve the quality of your seed lot. If you want more information about this, please contact us via this link.
Pelleting
When pelleting seeds, the seeds get covered with powder blends, to give the seeds a uniform size and shape. As a result, the seeds can be easier and more precisely sown or planted. An important advantage is that pellets do not affect the germination process of the seeds. Our Easy-line offers a suitable pellet for every type of crop:
A traditional pil, made out of clay, splits in two halves during the germination process. This pill is suitable for nurseries and horticulture. Used for crops like endive and lettuce.
A melting pellet. This small white pill dissolves quickly when touching water. This pill is meant for light sensitive products like flowery seed, celeriac and tobacco.
This light pill is meant for certain crops in nurseries and in horticulture, for example; carrot, tomato and leek. When used, the pill crumbles, as a result the seeds lose little force.
This pelleting method gives the seeds a coating but it does not sort the seeds based on volume. Therefore seeds can have different shapes and vary in volume. This pellet is meant for field crops. The most important feature of this pellet is its strength. It is a more economic product with a build-up in kilograms as result.
To minimize volume and weight, EasyMini has been developed. EasyMini is a small pellet suitable for lettuce and endive crops.
Besides the service of pelleting and encrusting, we are also supplier of powders and adhesives. For more information on our powders and adhesives, please contact our customer service department.
Filmcoating
Filmcoating is providing the seeds with a thin layer of coloured coating; polymers. Filmcoating seeds has several advantages:
- To protect the seeds from diseases and infections from outside
- To apply pesticides or fungicides to the seeds, to reduce the use of pesticides and fungicides in the field
- To reduce dust
- To increase the visibility of the seeds in the soil.
Besides offering the service of filmcoating, we can also deliver coating materials and polymers. For more information about our polymers, click here.
Polymers
The EasyPol range are ready to use polymers with good fluidity that guarantees a smooth coverage of seed and pellets. It allows you to evenly apply the active ingredient required, minimizing dust off and achieving a uniform distribution in the field.

Consultancy
Complementary to the above mentioned services and products, we are willing to share our knowhow and experience with you. For example, we can offer guidance programs to (new) companies where we give advice and share our views based on our expertise in everything seedtechnology.
We are open and ready to discuss how we can help in your specific case.
For more information about our products and services, please contact Agathos or Atlas.
